Certifications

GSB offers a comprehensive range of certifications designed to promote and verify sustainable and environmentally responsible practices in various aspects. These certifications are aimed at fostering a greener, more sustainable future by setting and assessing the highest global standards.

Energy Centers Certification

Arcadia Certification is a specialized accreditation that evaluates and recognizes the energy performance and efficiency of District Cooling Plants (DCPs) and onsite chilled water systems. This certification provides comprehensive assessment of the efficiency and effectiveness of all energy-intensive systems integrated within DCPs and chillers, acknowledging their ability to optimize energy usage and contribute to sustainable practices. Arcadia Certification sets a benchmark for excellence in energy management and showcases the dedication of facilities towards creating a greener and more sustainable future.

Buildings Energy Label

Energy labeling for buildings is a crucial step towards promoting sustainability and energy efficiency in the construction industry. These labels are awarded to building projects after a thorough assessment of their energy performance using the sophisticated Energia Suite. This powerful software, built upon the CEN/ISO standard, offers a performance-based approach to evaluate and enhance a building’s energy efficiency. What makes Energia Suite particularly valuable is its ability to streamline the energy assessment process, eliminating the need for time-consuming modifications and ensuring that buildings meet high energy efficiency standards right from the start. Clear energy labels empower builders and property owners to make informed decisions that contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.

Healthy Building Label

The Healthy Building Label, administered by the Global Sustainability Board (GSB), is a prestigious accreditation that signifies a commitment to creating optimal indoor environments for the health and wellbeing of occupants. This label is issued following assessment of a project’s performance against a range of criteria to ensure the well-being of occupants. Aspects considered in the assessment stage this accreditation include air quality, with stringent requirements for low-emission building materials and humidity maintenance, dust and pest control through high-efficiency filters and regular cleaning, adequate lighting and views, moisture prevention, noise reduction, safety measures, thermal comfort, and ventilation. In addition, it includes the assessment of the building’s operational practices for proper waste reduction, reuse and recycling while maintaining proper facility management practices and green purchasing polices.

Indoor Air Quality Certification

The Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) rating represents a building’s effectiveness in creating and maintaining clean indoor air quality for the health and well-being of its occupants. The issuance of IAQ rating follows conducts rigorous assessments for various indoor air pollutants originating from combustion smoke, mold, dust mites, pet dander and chemical toxins, among others. This accreditation issues ratings based on performance against eight key pollutants, including Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Formaldehyde, Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Ozone (O3), Particulate Matters (PM2.5), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), and Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs).

Measurement, Reporting And Verification (MRV) Certification

Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) is a comprehensive process aimed at systematically assessing and confirming greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to foster greater environmental transparency and accountability. It allows organizations, industries and governments to methodically quantify, document and authenticate their carbon footprint and GHG emissions. This process entails the measurement of emissions sources, reporting of data, and verification, which involves independent assessment and validation to ensure the accuracy and reliability of emissions data.

Buildings Water Label

Water Labels are awarded to building and infrastructure projects following an evaluation conducted using the Water Suite software. This certification represents projects’ environmental responsibility and sustainable resource management. To attain this certification, projects undergo a rigorous assessment process utilizing the Water Suite software, a powerful tool designed to assess and enhance water conservation efforts.

Events Carbon Neutrality Certification

Events Carbon Neutrality Certification is a comprehensive assessment program tailored to evaluate the sustainability and environmental performance of events. The certification is issued after assessment by Green Events Tool (GET), developed, hosted and maintained in collaboration with UNEP, the UNFCCC secretariat, and the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD). Events undergoing GET evaluation can achieve one of four sustainability ratings: Green (basic), Bronze, Silver or Gold, depending on their overall sustainability achievements. Events can also attain ‘carbon-neutral’ recognition by demonstrating their commitment to offsetting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through recognized GHG programs and implementing activities to reduce GHG emissions.

Products Ecolabeling

International Green Mark (IGM) is an environmental labeling system created by the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD). It offers a rigorous evaluation process, ensuring that eco-labeled products meet exceptional environmental standards. Through comprehensive assessments and verifications of sustainable attributes, IGM provides an objective measure of a product’s environmental impact, enabling consumers to make informed choices. Aligning with international benchmarks, IGM adheres to ISO 17065 and ISO 17067 requirements in its operation and design of products.
